Giving Forward: Charlois Lumpkin '72
St. Louis, Missouri

Photo of Charlois Lumpkin '72. "When I was applying to colleges in 1968, Elmhurst took a chance on me. As a student I worked hard, completed a double major, and graduated very high in my class.

"I support Elmhurst because I want the College to continue to take chances on kids like me—kids with potential who can benefit from Elmhurst's intimate environment and caring professors. Giving to Elmhurst makes good business sense, too: when you can mitigate tax consequences while supporting an institution you believe in, everybody wins."

Charlois Lumpkin '72, a published poet, works for the Missouri Department of Social Services as a special agent with the Welfare Investigations Unit/Eastern Region. She supports the College through a charitable gift annuity, a form of planned giving that provides annual income as well as tax advantages.
