Thrilled to Provide Future Generations with Opportunities
For Jennifer, ’05, and Thomas DuFore III, ’04, Elmhurst College holds a special place in their family legacy. Not only did they meet at the College, but Jen’s mother has been the College’s choir director for more than 20 years. “I feel like I grew up on campus, so attending college there felt like home,” Jen says.
Observing the College grow, and realizing the growth was made possible by gifts from alumni, has influenced Jen and Tom to give back to a place that has given them so much. Elmhurst not only gave them the foundation they needed to succeed, but taught them the importance of being active members of society.
Jen and Tom were awarded countless opportunities they feel they would not have received had they gone to a large university. “The leadership roles we took on gave us a competitive edge, so that when we graduated we didn’t just leave with a diploma, we left with experience and knowledge that was truly invaluable.”
In gratitude for all they received, Jen and Tom have made a planned gift to Elmhurst. By using a percentage bequest, they will be able to provide for their children and still make a significant gift to the business and music departments.
Jen and Tom are confident in the leadership of Elmhurst College and know their giving will make a direct and tangible difference in the lives of students. “Elmhurst has made such a significant impact on our lives,” Tom says, “and we are thrilled to provide future generations of students with the same opportunities the College afforded us.”
Married eight years now, the couple has three children: Macy, Matthew, and Michael. Tom is the chief operating officer and partner with Franchise Marketing Systems. Before becoming a mother of three, Jen was the assistant director of student involvement and coordinator of orientation at North Central College.
